Bengaluru, June 8 -- AICC Secretary and Karnataka Government's Guarantee Committee Vice-Chairman Suraj Hegde passed away following a cardiac arrest at a private hospital here late on Sunday night, Congress sources said on Monday. He was around 55.
Hegde, a former in-charge of the Indian Youth Congress and grandson of former Karnataka Chief Minister Devaraj Urs, was regarded as a key organisational leader within the Congress party and played an active role in implementing the Karnataka government's guarantee schemes.
Chief Minister D K Shivakumar expressed shock over Hegde's sudden demise, describing him as an active leader who maintained close ties with party workers and made significant contributions to strengthening the organisation.
