Chennai, June 3 -- As the filing of nominations for the June 18 biennial elections to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from the Tamil Nadu Assembly were underway, Congress on Wednesday urged Chief Minister and ruling TVK Founder C Joseph Vijay to allot the seat to it.
Congress TN in-charge Girish Chodankar along with senior leaders met Vijay at the State Secretariat today afternoon and formally made the request.
Later, speaking to reporters Chodankar said "we have made a request to the Chief Minister seeking to allot the Rajya Sabha seat to us.""An announcement will be made by the Chief Minister soon", he said, while stressing the need to strengthen the presence of Congress in the Upper House of Parliament to take on the BJP.
