Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 9 -- The Principal Accountant General (Kerala) has detected financial irregularities and alleged misuse of Central funds in the Social Audit Society functioning under the Local Self Government Department during the 2021-24 period, according to an audit report.
The findings were disclosed in an RTI reply provided to Sidhique Thanur, a member of the National Right to Information Coalition. The society conducts social audit activities using funds provided by the union Ministry of Rural Development every year, including audits of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) implemented through gram panchayats.
