Chennai, April 19 -- In a surprise development, the nascent Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) of actor-political Vijay on Sunday announced its decision to back an Independent after his party candidate's nomination papers were rejected in the Edappadi Assembly constituency, the home turf and pocketborough of AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami in his native Salem district of Tamil Nadu.
In a statement here, VIjay said te TVK would extend support to the Independent candidate, K Premkumar, who is also a former functionary of his fan club, and contesting under the Television Box symbol.
