Chennai, April 3 -- Normal suburban EMU train services were back on track at Chennai Egmore Railway station from Friday after completion of restoration and re-development works two days ahead of the schedule, givintg a a major relief to lakhs of commuters, who were solely dependant on EMU services for travel.

In view of the proposed restoration works, several EMU train services from Egmore station was cancelled causing hardship to the commuters from February 27, following which the Tamil Nadu government on a request from the Southern Raiwlay operated additional bus services for the benefit of the passengers.
