Chennai, Sept. 10 -- The Opposition AIADMK on Thursday evening announced its candidates for the October six by-electionsto the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly Reserved constituencies, with party general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami naming Kanitha Sampath and Bhanumathi respectively as the party nominees.
The by-elections arose after the Rebel AIADMK MLAs, Maragatham Kumaravel of Madurantakam and P. Sathyabama of Dharapuram--who were, as expected given tickets by the TVK-- quit their posts and joined the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) of Vijay.
The announcement sets the stage for a keen four-cornered contest in both the constituencies, with NTK of actor-director Seeman too likely to enter the fray...
