Kabul, July 1 -- Taliban authorities in Afghanistan said on Wednesday its air force had carried out strikes against alleged Islamic State (ISIS) targets inside Pakistan, while Islamabad said it had shot down four drones launched from Afghan territory, marking a sharp escalation in tensions between the neighboring countries.
Afghanistan's Ministry of Defence said the strikes were conducted late on Tuesday against what it described as ISIS facilities in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province and northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
