Shillong, July 6 -- Meghalaya's powerful Khasi Students' union (KSU) has urged the state government and the three autonomous district councils to pass a resolution in the assembly against uranium mining, alleging that some influential people were pressuring land owners in uranium-rich Domiasiat village to sell their land.
"We (KSU) strongly demand that the state government adopt a resolution in the upcoming autumn session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly opposing uranium mining and selling of land in uranium-rich areas of Domiasiat and its adjoining areas," KSU President Raymond Kharjana said.
