Kolkata, April 6 -- The District Magistrate of Malda has issued a show-cause notice to Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Sheikh Ansar Ahmed over alleged negligence in handling and reporting a sensitive law and order situation in Kaliachak in Malda district. He has to reply within seven days.
According to administrative sources, tensions escalated in Kaliachak on April 1, creating a situation that reportedly threatened the security of judicial officials.
The incident, referred to as the Malda Kaliachak Incident, required close monitoring and prompt reporting to senior authorities.
Sheikh Ansar Ahmed, an IAS officer, had been specifically assigned responsibility for maintaining law and order in the area.
