Lucknow, July 17 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai on Friday alleged that the demolition order for 38 buildings at the Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur was issued to divert public attention from the alleged offering embezzlement case at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
At a press conference held at the state Congress headquarters, Rai said that the demolition order was issued by the Rampur Development Authority within hours of the hearing on July 15, raising questions about the government's intentions.
He claimed that Jauhar University was built in 2005, while the area in question was included within the Rampur Development Authority's boundaries in 2024. Therefore, the question of map approval does not arise.
