New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, has been given the additional charge of Governor of Maharashtra.

"Consequent upon demitting the office of Governor of Maharashtra by Shri CP Radhakrishnan, due to his election as the Vice-President of India, the President of India has appointed Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Maharashtra, in addition to his own duties," a statement from the President's Secretariat said today.

Before being elected Vice-President, CP Radhakrishnan held the position of Governor of Maharashtra, which he vacated upon his election.
