Mumbai, May 24 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here has registered an offence against an employee of the civic run BEST undertaking providing essential bus, electricity and transport services across Mumbai, for allegedly demanding a bribe from a hotel owner.
According to ACB sources, the complainant runs a hotel which had an outstanding electricity bill of Rs 45,280, which had been pending for three months. The accused public servant, identified as Nitin Kawale, who works in the BEST electrical department, approached the hotel owner and demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 failing which he threatened to disconnect the hotel's electricity supply.
