Chandigarh, July 31 -- The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday intensified its attack on the Punjab government by staging a protest in Amritsar over alleged paper leak incidents and delays in recruitment examinations, demanding the resignation of Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.
The protest assumes political significance as it comes amid an escalating confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab.
While ABVP maintained that its agitation was centred on issues affecting students and job aspirants, the demonstration added another layer to the ongoing political contest between the two parties.
