Siliguri, May 12 -- The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), in a press statement on Monday, distanced itself from the incident involving the vice-chancellor of Vidyasagar University on May 5, and alleged that attempts were being made to malign the organisation by misusing its name in educational institutions across West Bengal.
In the statement, ABVP state general secretary Dr. Neelkantha Bhattacharya said the student organisation did not support any activity that went against its ideals and principles and remained committed to maintaining peace, democratic values, and a healthy atmosphere on campuses.
