Ranchi, Feb. 27 -- The Jharkhand Assembly on Friday passed the Budget for the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department for the financial year 2026-27 after an extensive discussion. BJP legislators staged a walkout during the debate.

Speaking to reporters after the session, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh said no new schemes have been introduced. The focus will be on speeding up ongoing schemes and ensuring effective implementation at the grassroots level.

She said nearly 12 per cent of the state's total Budget has been allocated to rural development. The Mahagathbandhan government has prioritised the sector, she added.
