New Delhi, June 14 -- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday criticised the BJP government over the condition of the Yamuna, alleging that efforts focused on cleaning and beautifying the riverbanks would not address pollution in the river itself.

Sharing a video of Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma participating in a cleanliness drive along the Yamuna, Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha said the BJP had promised during the Delhi Assembly elections to clean the river's waters and not just its banks.

According to Jha, the BJP had extensively publicised its Yamuna-cleaning campaign after coming to power, claiming that work was being carried out on a "war footing".
