New Delhi, Aug. 10 -- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders on Monday rode bicycles to the Delhi Assembly, accusing the BJP-led Delhi government of corruption in the purchase of bicycles for schoolgirls and demanding the resignation of Education Minister Ashish Sood.
AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the government purchased around 1.3 lakh bicycles at Rs 6,957 each, compared with Rs 4,200 paid by AAP MLAs for what they claimed was the same model available in the market. He alleged that the price difference amounted to a Rs 40 crore loss to the exchequer in a procurement worth around Rs 90 crore.
