New Delhi, Jan. 7 -- : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday demanded an apology from Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over what it termed as historically inaccurate and objectionable statements made in the Delhi Assembly regarding freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

Addressing a press conference, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that Chief Minister Gupta, while reading from a prepared text inside the Assembly, claimed that Bhagat Singh threw a bomb to target a Congress government.

Bharadwaj contended that such a statement is factually impossible since Bhagat Singh was executed by the British in 1931, long before India's independence and the formation of any Congress-led government in an independent India.
