Bhubaneswar, Nov. 4 -- The Aluminium Association of India (AAI) has submitted a detailed representation to the Ministry of Mines, calling for urgent policy measures to safeguard and future-proof India's aluminium industry.

According to AAI, timely action could enable domestic industries to attract investments worth over Rs.20 lakh crore.

The Association noted that the current policy framework poses significant challenges to India's aluminium manufacturing base, especially amid a surge in imports from aluminium-surplus countries.

These imports, AAI said, are being driven by global tariff and non-tariff protectionist measures that distort fair competition.
