Chennai, Aug. 1 -- As the Cauvery remains dry and dessertified, the popular Tamil festival, Aadi Perukku, falling on Monday (August 3) has lost its sheen this year and appears to be a mere ritual this year, even as the Tamil Nadu government, left with no option, has decided to approach the Supreme Court seeking its due share of Cauvery waters from Karnataka.
The festival, coincides with the fresh flow in the lone perennial river in Tamil Nadu, during which people, especially newly wedded couples, throng the Cauvery since Sangam age as vividly described in the epic 'Silappathikaram'.
