Motihari, Sept. 1 -- In a unique blend of faith, ecology and community discipline, a Tharu-dominated village in West Champaran district has pressed the button on a 48-hour "green lockdown," bringing routine life to a halt to give nature a chance to regenerate.
In Santpur-Soharia panchayat, located in the Terai belt along the Nepal border, fields have fallen silent, farm work and daily wage labour have stopped, and unnecessary movement has been restricted since Monday as villagers observe the traditional 'Barna Parv'.
