Panchkula, June 16 -- Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Panchkula Urban District President Manoj Aggarwal on Tuesday raised serious concerns over the city's CCTV surveillance network, alleging that nearly one-fourth of the installed cameras are non-functional despite substantial expenditure on their maintenance.
Addressing the issue, Aggarwal said that out of 414 CCTV cameras installed across Panchkula city, 99 cameras at key intersections and public locations are either damaged or non-operational, while only 315 cameras are currently functioning.
He claimed that more than 27 per cent of the surveillance system being out of service has weakened the city's security infrastructure and reflects administrative negligence.
