Bhopal, Aug. 18 -- A pick-up van ferrying labourers collided head-on with a dumper truck, in an attempt to save a herd of cows that suddenly came on the road, resulting in the death of eight labourers from Uttar Pradesh and injuries to more than 30, in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh in the wee hours of Tuesday.
As per police, the accident took place near Chhimka village, on the Bhind-Gwalior National Highway 719 in Madhya Pradesh at around 1 AM.
Gohad Chauraha police station in-charge Ramnaresh Yadav said that preliminary investigations have revealed that while trying to save cattle on the highway, the speeding pick-up lost its balance, went in the wrong direction, and collided with an oncoming dumper truck.
