Panchkula, June 21 -- From the dusty chaupals of pre-Partition Punjab to the corridors of power in Chandigarh, the political journey that shaped present-day Haryana now has a comprehensive written record. A 500-plus-page book titled "Chaupal Se Chandigarh," documenting every Assembly election held in the region since 1952, was released here on Saturday before an audience of senior journalists, academicians, legal experts, researchers and political leaders.

The book traces the electoral history of the region across three distinct political eras - undivided Punjab, PEPSU (Patiala and East Punjab States Union), and present-day Haryana - covering every Assembly election from 1952 to 2024, spanning over seven decades.
