Pune, March 19 -- The 68th Maharashtra State Championship and Maharashtra Kesari Wrestling Tournament kicked off in great style at the Ajitdada Pawar Sports Complex in Wagholi, Pune on Thursday.
On Thursday morning, intense bouts in the 57 kg and 86 kg weight categories kept thousands of wrestling fans on the edge of their seats.
Several top contenders were knocked out during the semi-finals, ending their medal hopes.
In the mud category (Mati division) 57 kg semi-finals, Pune's Omkar Nigade defeated Kolhapur's Sudarshan Patil 7-0, while Kolhapur district's Mrunal Patil secured a 5-1 victory over Solapur's Ajay Nimbalkar to enter the finals.
