Haveri, June 30 -- Police have booked 52 persons, 26 each from the Hindu and Muslim communities, in connection with the communal clash in Naregal village of Karnataka's Haveri district, even as Karnataka BJP President B. Y. Vijayendra on Tuesday alleged that the incident was part of an "anti-Hindu conspiracy" and accused the Congress government of shielding the guilty.

Two FIRs have been registered at Adur Police Station against members of both communities following Monday's violence, which left eight people injured. Police said the accused include several persons who were themselves injured in the clash.
