Gadchiroli, Sept. 1 -- : As many as 50 former Maoists from Chhattisgarh were sent back to their native villages from Gadchiroli on Monday, officials said on Tuesday.
Around 50 former Maoist cadres who had surrendered earlier in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district have now returned to their native villages in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
The move follows sustained rehabilitation efforts and appeals by former senior Maoist leader Mallojula Venugopal Rao alias Bhupati, who surrendered before Maharashtra authorities and has since been encouraging underground cadres to renounce violence and join the mainstream.
