Hyderabad, April 25 -- In a significant development in the fight against left wing extremism, 47 underground CPI (Maoist) cadres, including senior leaders, surrendered before Telangana Police along with a large cache of arms and ammunition, Director General of Police B Shivadhar Reddy announced on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference at his office, the DGP said the surrendered cadres belonged to the South Bastar Division of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC).
Among them were key figures such as Hemla Iythu alias Vijja, a senior member and in charge of South Bastar DVC, and Podium Lachu alias Manoj, a divisional committee member and platoon commander.
