Imphal, Aug. 18 -- In a major step toward peace, reconciliation and development in Manipur, 46 cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party-Taibanganba Group, including four women cadres, laid down arms and surrendered to the government on Tuesday.
The "Homecoming Ceremony" was organised by the Home Department at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Imphal.
The ceremony followed a public deadline set by the Chief Minister on August 12, giving militants 15 days to surrender illegal weapons as part of efforts to strengthen peace in the state.
