Mumbai, July 28 -- Forty-four Somali nationals, who were recently sentenced to life imprisonment by a Mumbai special court in a piracy case, have moved Indian and Somali authorities seeking transfer to their home country to serve the remainder of their sentences under the India-Somalia Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, 2017 legal aourcess said here on Tuesday.

Sources said the representations were submitted a day after the conviction to the union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Embassy of Somalia in India and the competent authorities in Somalia.
