Agartala, April 9 -- A local court in Belonia of South Tripura convicted four individuals for the murder of a daily wage worker, identified as Khatendra Reang, and sentenced them to seven years of rigorous imprisonment.

The court found Dipak Reang (19), Shimendra Reang (19), Karun Reang (21), and Dasarath Reang (26) guilty of the crime. Additionally, each was fined Rs 5,000, with an additional month of imprisonment as a penalty for non-payment.

According to Public Prosecutor Subrata Bhattacharya, the incident occurred on November 7, 2024, at Gangarai Kirichandra Para under Santirbazar Police Station of the district. The accused, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, entered the home of Khatendra Reang and attacked him with sticks.
