Chennai, June 6 -- The first synchorised wetland and terrestrial bird surveys in Tamil Nadu has recorded a total of 393 and 391 bird species respectively with an overall direct population count of 6,01,348 and 2,24,801 birds.
Tamil Nadu Minister of Forests R.V. Ranjithkumar and Minister of Environment Rajeev released the survey reports on the occasion of World Environment Day on Friday evening, highlighting long-term monitoring of avian diversity of the state towards achieving our conservation goals through scientific management of critical habitats.
