Baramati, Aug. 2 -- A case has been registered at the Baramati Taluka Police Station after 17 people were allegedly cheated of rupees 3.73 crore on the false promise of securing government jobs in various state and central government departments.

According to the police, the accused lured job aspirants by claiming they could arrange appointments in departments such as Health, Forest, Water Resources, Social Welfare, ONGC, and the Railways.

During the 2023-24 recruitment period, they allegedly collected application forms from candidates and demanded hefty advance payments in exchange for guaranteed government employment.
