Agartala, Oct. 14 -- A district court in Tripura's Khowai has imposed a life sentence on a 30-year-old man today following his conviction under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The convicted person, identified as Rajendra Malsom, a resident of distant Debthang Para locality in the Teliamura police station jurisdiction, received his sentence from the District and Sessions Judge Court in Khowai, police said.
The court imposed rigorous life imprisonment and levied a monetary penalty of Rs 25,000 against the convict. The judgment further states that failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.
