Hyderabad, April 1 -- A three-day international conference on "Correctional Reforms: Novel Vistas" commenced at the ICFAI Law School campus here on Wednesday, bringing together academicians, legal practitioners and prison administration officials to deliberate on reforms in correctional systems.
Delivering the inaugural address, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Telangana, Dr. Soumya Mishra highlighted the shift from a punitive to a reformative approach in prison administration.
She said both police and prison systems share the goal of protecting society while enabling rehabilitation of offenders, and emphasised the need for skill development and reintegration of inmates.
