Bengaluru, June 8 -- In a major crackdown on the misuse of artificial intelligence and deepfake technology, Karnataka Cyber Crime Police have booked 29 social media accounts for allegedly creating and circulating morphed images and videos of actress Rukmini Vasanth, and have sought details from Meta to identify those behind the accounts.

The action follows a complaint by the actress after a series of AI-generated images and videos falsely depicting her in a bikini photoshoot went viral across social media platforms last month, triggering widespread concern over the growing threat posed by deepfake technology.
