Ranchi, May 21 -- Twenty-seven members of banned extremist organisations, including 25 cadres of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and two members of the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), surrendered before Jharkhand Police on Thursday under Operation Navjeevan.

Police said the surrendered Maoist cadres included six Special Zonal Committee Members (SZCMs), six Area Committee Members (ACMs) and 13 squad members associated with the teams of senior Maoist leaders Misir Besra alias Sagar and Asim Mandal operating in the Kolhan and Saranda regions.

According to the police, the surrendered cadres deposited 17 weapons and 2,987 rounds of ammunition. The two JJMP members active in Gumla district also surrendered along with a weapon and amm...
