Buldhana, Feb. 23 -- : Tension prevailed in a village in Maharashtra's Buldhana district after a dispute over the installation of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj led to clashes between two groups. Police have detained 23 individuals and imposed prohibitory orders to prevent further unrest, officials said on Monday.
The incident took place in Chikhla Kakad village in Lonar taluka on February 20.
According to authorities, supporters of two local leaders entered into a heated argument over who would take the lead in installing the statue on the Gram Panchayat premises. The disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation.
Sources said tensions resurfaced on Sunday, leading to another round of clashes in the village.
