Puri, June 23 -- Elaborate security and civic arrangements have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the world-famous Puri Rath Yatra, with deployment of 220 platoons of police personnel, NSG commandos, tactical units and installation of 475 high-powered CCTV cameras across the pilgrim town.

Additional Director General of Police Soumendra Priyadarshi on Tuesday said the surveillance network will cover the entire town, including the three-kilometre-long Badadanda, where the grand chariot festival will take place.
