Sadia QuadirNew Delhi, Dec. 30 -- Indian literature has long commanded global acclaim, from the ancient epics of the Ramayana and Mahabharata to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's Gitanjali and the contemporary works by Amitav Ghosh, the world has borne witness to it all.

The year 2025, however, proved to be a particularly significant one for Indian writers. Among its most notable moments was when an hitherto unkown Banu Mushtaq wwoved audiences by winning the International Booker Prize for 'The Heart Lamp,' a collection of 12 short stories originally written in Kannada between 1990 and 2023.
