Gadchiroli, June 2 -- : Around 20,000 smokeless chulhas have been distributed free of cost in two talukas of Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district under a government-backed initiative aimed at reducing firewood consumption and indoor air pollution, officials said in Tuesday.
The improved cookstoves were distributed in Dhanora and Etapalli talukas in collaboration with private partners, according to information shared by the district administration.
The initiative is expected to help save nearly 41,000 tonnes of firewood annually and cut around 9,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions every year.
