Shimla, Aug. 31 -- Himachal Pradesh continues to grapple with the challenge of single-teacher schools, with 2,964 institutions-17.1 percent of the total-run by just one teacher, according to the Ministry of Education's Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) Plus 2024-25 report.

Such schools have enrolled 46,329 students. However, the number of single-teacher schools in the state has decreased from 2023-24, when there were 3,473 such schools, enrolling 65,819 students.

The report was released on August 28.

Still, 184 schools in the state lack functional girls' toilets, 273 don't have functional boys' toilets, and 167 don't have functional electricity.
