Shimla, April 14 -- In two years, 16,963 kg of fruits have been processed at the geothermal-powered apple cold storage and fruit drying facility at Tapari in Kinnaur district, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Tuesday during his visit to the unit.
The Chief Minister inspected the facility, described as the world's first geothermal-powered combined apple cold storage and fruit drying unit, established with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes.
The project has been developed under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) and an Iceland-based company.
