Lucknow, June 22 -- At least 15 students were killed and four critically injured in a major fire that broke out in a three-storey building in Aliganj area of the state capital on Monday. The fire broke out in the second floor, where students were undergoing coaching at an animation centre.
The fire broke out at around 2 pm.
All the deceased were in the age group of 18 to 22 years.
Smoke engulfed the building due to the fire, causing a stampede among the students inside.
Many students jumped from the second floor to save their lives, injuring themselves.
Four injured students were rushed to the Trauma Centre.
Local residents first reported seeing smoke suddenly rising from the building.
