Kasaragod, June 25 -- Police have busted a large-scale illegal tobacco manufacturing and packaging unit in Kasaragod district of Kerala, seizing 15,000 packets of banned tobacco products along with machinery and raw materials used in their production.
The raid was carried out by Melparamba Police as part of Operation Toofan at a rented building bearing the signboard "QURAISHI XPRESS" near the National Highway at Mayilatti in Bara village. Two persons were arrested during the operation.
Authorities said the premises had been functioning as a clandestine manufacturing centre for prohibited tobacco products.
