Chennai, April 19 -- In a major mishap, 13 workers were killed and six others injured when an explosion ripped through a licensed cracker manufacturing at Kattanarpatti village in the southern Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday evening.
The deceased included women.
Reports received at the police headquarters here said 13 people were killed in the tragedy and six others were critically injured and were rushed to hospital.
Meanwhile, according to reports from the mishap spot and TV reportssaid 19 people were killed in the blast, which was caused due to friction while during mixing of chemicals for making crackers, though an official confirmation was awaited.
