Wardha, July 16 -- : A 12-year-old girl was allegedly killed after being sexually assaulted in the Rotha area of Maharashtra's Wardha district under jurisdiction of Sawangi police station, officials said on Thursday.
The victim's body, found in a pool of blood with a crushed skull, was discovered late Wednesday in a farmhouse situated in a field adjoining the village, officials said.
As the body was found in a naked state, sexual assault is suspected, officials said.
Preliminary information indicated the girl returned home from a nearby school in the afternoon and was alone when she was attacked.
Her family, who work as agricultural labourers, alerted police after returning from the fields and finding the girl unconscious, police said....
