Kolkata, Aug. 26 -- A 10-year-old schoolboy from Dum Dum died on Wednesday after several days of fever, with his death certificate citing dengue as the cause of death.
Jayishnu Majumdar, a resident of Bediapara in Dum Dum, had been suffering from recurrent fever for several days.
His condition deteriorated on Wednesday morning, prompting his family to seek medical advice and have his blood tested. The test confirmed dengue and his platelet count was found to have fallen sharply, according to his family members. He was being rushed to a hospital near Dattabad when his condition worsened and he died on the way. Doctors at the hospital subsequently declared him dead.
