Mangaluru, Oct. 20 -- At least 10 people fell ill during a Diwali event organised by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Dakshin Kannada district today.
Police said the illnesses were caused by hypoglycemia or dehydration due to delays in distributing food and gifts. Three women were administered intravenous fluids, while three others received outpatient treatment and have since been discharged.
The event, titled "Ashoka Janamana," was held at Puttur Taluk Stadium and attended by local MLA Ashok Rai. Reports suggest that the crowd far exceeded expectations, highlighting negligence by the organisers.
