Beirut, April 15 -- Canada and the United Kingdom are among 10 countries that issued a joint statement calling for "an urgent end to hostilities in Lebanon."The nations expressed being "deeply concerned by the worsening humanitarian situation and displacement crisis" in the West Asian country.

In addition to Canada and the UK, the statement was signed by Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Sierra Leone, and Switzerland.

The statement also condemned the killing of three UN peacekeepers in Lebanon in March.
